I wanted to give you an update on how the St. Margaret’s Project went.  As you may remember, at the beginning of Lent, Hannah Kirk did a short presentation about how her Confirmation Saints Name was St. Margaret, the patron saint of the homeless and those in need.  She shared how she and her friend Meredith Barrett wanted to make up “Blessing Bags” for the Catholic Mens’ Shelter in the city of Syracuse.   During Lent our parish family went over the top to bring in the needed items to make up the 130 Blessing Bags.  This past week, Hannah, Meredith, along with their dads, myself and Gabby Major went to the Catholic Charities Mens’ Shelter to hand out the bags.  We went very early in the morning so as to catch the men as they were getting up.  We brought along 130 apple fritters and juice to also serve the men that morning.  I asked Hannah afterwards how she felt and this is what she had to share;

“First of all, I was extremely humbled by the generosity of our St. Joe’s Parish family.  Then last week after we had delivered the bags, I happened to notice some of the men, carrying the bags on the street~ that made me feel so good.  But mostly, I just loved knowing that we made a difference in their lives.”

Thank you once again to our St. Joe’s family for all of the donated items, gift cards and money.  The men were so appreciative and thankful for what they received.   You all helped to make an impact on their lives and made them so very~very happy!
